The European Textile Services Association is delighted to be an official campaign partner of the healthy workplaces 2012-13 campaign entitled Working together to prevent risks' ETSA and the European Agency for Health & Safety at Work (EU OSHA) will work closely together for risk prevention, promoting healthier and safer workplaces.
The campaign was officially launched on April 20, 2012 under the patronage of Lazlo Andor, EU Commission for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion. The campaign is designed to help employers and employees to evaluate and reduce workplace risks.
Textile rental services play a key role in providing a safe, risk-free workplace for employees in many sectors. Partnership with EU OSHA recognises this role and will give ETSA a platform for promoting the benefits of our industry. ETSA's contribution to this campaign will focus on the communication of key messages to our member organisations and the promotion of activities such as the European Good Practice Awards. ETSA's Workwear Group will link the campaign themes to work being done on personal protective clothing and food hygiene.
The European Good Practice Awards recognise companies/organisations that have made outstanding and innovative contributions towards enhancing workplace safety and health. Focus is on demonstrating the benefits of following good safety and health practices at work. Fifty two entries from 29 countries were received for this campaign, of whihc ten were awarded and a further ten entries were commended.
EU OSHA has published a series of short, animated films about many aspects of safety at work. Important messages about preventing occupational hazards are conveyed through the adventures of Napo, the animated hero of these short clips.
