Europe's textile rental services industry sets course for the future
Brussels/Berlin, May 2013: the European textile rental services industry and its supply industry are equipping themselves for the future in conjunction with the representative body of their industry, the European Textile Services Association. At its two-day member conference in Berlin at the end of May, 115 industry leaders came together for an intensive exchange of ideas at an event billed as an impulse generator and idea forum. Its goal: ensuring the long term success of the industry .
Generating sales of € 10.7 billion with 134,000 employees in 2012, the European textile rental service industry forms part of a successful industry sector - especially since market potential is estimated to be three times as high. The textile rental service business model is dependent on the renting out of work apparel and protective clothing (worth €3.4 billion), hotel, hospital and surgical linen (€2.4 and €2.6 billion respectively), floor mats (€1 billion), as well as washroom services and textiles (€1.3 billion) in all businesses. The provision of services encompasses all processes required to equip clients with clean and hygienic textiles: selection, provision, stock adaptation, individual sorting and delivery of textiles and garments, as well as collection, care for and repair of used items.
