RFID and EU rules on privacy protection

A new CEN standard is being finalised on Privacy Impact Assessment with RFID (prEN 16571). Its purpose is to determine how open to attack an individual's privacy is from the exploitation of aspects of the RFID technology when the RFID tag can be associated with a person. This standard is relevant to textile services companies as we may be considered as RFID operators when renting personal garments and for home cares/nursing homes when the personal laundry is tagged.
