Klopman International wins ETSA's Climate Impact Award
With great pride, ETSA presents Klopman International with the 2024 Climate Impact Award for their innovative "We-ar Circular™- Post-Consumer Recycled Fabrics" concept done in partnership with TDV Industries. This ground-breaking concept establishes a new benchmark for the textile industry and demonstrates Klopman and TDV Industries dedication to environmental sustainability and the circular economy.
Klopman and TDV Industries have always placed a high priority on sustainability, emphasizing the need for thorough research and development to lessen environmental effect. We-ar Circular™, which turns used clothing into recycled materials, is the embodiment of this commitment. Klopman and TDV prevent downcycling and landfill disposal by using mechanical recycling to manufacture new fibers spun into yarn from post-consumer cotton and polyester mixes.
Four fabric alternatives with different weights and compositions are available from We-ar Circular™, guaranteeing mechanical resistance, color fastness, washing performance, and durability. These textiles are sold under the We-ar circular™ brand, which was created to inspire industry participants to take joint action in the direction of complete circularity in textiles.
A core team from the supply chain, quality, R&D, and product management departments worked on the project, which was fully supported by Klopman and TDV Industries. Numerous other contributors were also involved. Using the hashtag #JoinTheFabricRevolution, promotion started with a pre-launch at Techtextil 2022 and a full debut at A+A in October 2023 as part of the We-ar circular™ initiative.
Dr. Vlatka Katusic Cuentas, a specialist in circular economy at CEA and senior research fellow at CERC, commended We-ar Circular™ for its remarkable methodology and observable results: "I commend We-ar Circular™ for its exceptional approach and tangible outcomes. Congratulations to the team for leading toward a more sustainable future. Their efforts set a benchmark for environmental stewardship."
Initiatives with quantifiable environmental benefits, such as noteworthy waste reduction, inventive recycling methods, and reductions in carbon emissions, are the subject of the Climate Impact Award. These requirements are best shown by Klopman and TDV's, We-ar Circular™, which highlights the business's creative approach to sustainability and enduring dedication to the environment.
ETSA congratulates Klopman International on this well-deserved recognition. The We-ar Circular™ initiative demonstrates measurable environmental impact and aligns with global environmental goals like the EU Green Deal, inspiring the textile industry to embrace circular economy practices and contribute to a sustainable future.
