ETSA Sustainability Working Group, forging a path for 2025
In order to address the most important sustainability issues affecting the textile services industry, ETSA organized its Sustainability Working Group in Brussels from February 10-11. Key commercial and regulatory issues, including as the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDD), the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and the impending Omnibus legislation, were discussed in-depth over the course of two days. The objective was unambiguous: to make sure the sector is ready to handle the changing regulatory environment while promoting sustainable business practices. You can find the ETSA slides, in the Members Only Section of this website, or by personally contacting ETSA (this is a privilege of ETSA membership).
The strategic planning session, where participants established sustainability emphasis areas for 2025, was a significant highlight of the gathering. The most pertinent material topics for the industry were determined by members through a voting procedure and cooperative talks. Participants collaborated to create mini working groups that will oversee certain projects all year long, ranging from double materiality evaluations to data collecting and assurance needs under CSRD. In addition to adhering to new rules, ETSA members are actively influencing the direction of sustainability in the textile services sector thanks to this methodical, goal-oriented approach.
ETSA has sent notifications about the three small working groups that were formed after the meeting. The communication that is attached has information about these groups, their goals, and how to get involved. As we strive toward a more sustainable, transparent, and circular industry, we encourage all interested parties to participate in and add to these important conversations.
We would like to express our profound appreciation to Siri Juvonen for her outstanding organizational support and to our co-chairs, Kati Pallasaho and Carmela Crippa, for their leadership in facilitating these important conversations. We would especially like to thank all of the ETSA members who shared their knowledge and skills, which helped to keep cooperation and knowledge exchange at the forefront of our sustainability initiatives.
