ETSA submits organizational pledge for European Commission's Climate Ambassadorship!
Today, 20 December, ETSA Secretariat has submitted to the European Commission its pledge as Climate Ambassador. This organizational pledge not only affirms our commitment to the European Climate Pact but serves as an inspirational springboard from which ETSA member companies and national associations can use to reach new heights of excellence in sustainability.
ETSA became a Climate Ambassador earlier in the summer of 2021. This new role allows ETSA to act as an intermediary between both the European institutions and the private sector. It is one of ETSA's tasks to disseminate information and best practices that can help members contribute to the EU's sustainability and environmental goals while also informing EU institutions of the priorities of the greater textile service industry. European environmental priorities have been and will continue to put an emphasis on anything and everything from carbon emissions, to microplastics, wastewater, air pollution and so much more.
In submitting this pledge we'd like to thank all the ETSA members, the ETSA board and the ETSA Communication Steering Group Committee for sharing their thoughts, concerns and best practices with ETSA Secretariat in drafting this pledge. We are very proud of the work done on this pledge and it is our hope that we can inspire the greater textile services industry in Europe and around the world to act with great haste and decisiveness in addressing the looming climate crisis.
It takes all of us, and this pledge is not the end, but the beginning. This pledge is a call to action, understanding that we don't have much time and we need to be effective. While our industry has made great strides in recent months, we much continue to do more. We are optimistic that this industry will answer the call. We are pleased to present to you the ETSA Climate Ambassadorship Pledge which you can find attached at the end of this article.
The Commission will soon review it and revise it, providing ETSA with feedback! Please continue to follow ETSA Media for updates.
