ETSA Secretariat meets with Tree water to discuss Life Recyclo Project
Last week, ETSA Secretariat had the pleasure of meeting with representatives from Tree water. Tree water (Treatment Reuse & Expertise for Effluent) is a company aiming to meet the growing needs for sustainable eco-based solutions in the 21st century economy. Tree Water is committed to reaching these goals with comprehensive policies which combine both economic realism and innovation. The topic for discussion was the "Life Recyclo" European Commission partially funded project, in which Tree Water participates with several other key organizations throughout Europe. This landmark project has the objective of improving water resource efficiency and reducing pollution discharge into water, including in industrial laundries among other industries.
The project seeks to address wastewater produced by industrial laundries specifically by promoting an innovative advanced oxidation process. Tree Water expects that the level of pollutants discharged in industrial laundry systems to be considerably reduced through the use of this one of a kind, innovative model. These goals are in line with existing European Union-level policies, goals and priorities, including the 7th European Environment Action Programme and the Water framework directive as well as other standards relevant to water treatment. Ideally, "Life Recyclo" will empower local, national and international actors with the ability to implement useful regulations in order to keep local waters clean and put Europe on the path to a greener tomorrow.
While ETSA is not involved in this project directly, we are very excited for our friends at Tree Water and participating partners for this opportunity they are engaged in. As both microplastics and PFAS become more and more salient issues in European public discourse, projects such as these will become both more common and critical.
