ETSA Secretariat at the Swedish Textile Service Association's Autumn Conference.
On the 18th of November, ETSA Secretariat had the opportunity to attend the Swedish Textile Service Association's Autumn Conference in Stockholm, with ETSA Secretary-General, Elena Lai featuring as a keynote speaker. During her speech, Elena Lai not only explained to the attendees of the conference what ETSA does but also elaborated on how ETSA would like to expand and engage in a variety of topics related to textile care in the coming year.
During her speech, Elena Lai discussed not only the coming communication with the UN Global Compact and ETSA's role as Climate Ambassador for the European Commission but explained how these two vital communications help the greater textile service industry when it comes to making policymakers and stakeholders alike aware of the role textile services play in their day to day lives. Furthermore, she outlined topics of high salience to the textile service industry which will be focused on by EU policymakers in the coming year, namely the Circular Economy, Digital Product Passports and the EU Chemical Strategy.
Lastly, in her presentation, Elena Lai discussed the project ERASMUS funded project "Educate!" which was completed in August, and was worked on in close synergy with some of ETSA's national associations, including the Swedish Textile Service Association and Mr Daniel Kärrholt. During the presentation, ETSA's cooperation with National Associations was really highlighted and emphasized, with Mr Kärrholt being an extremely valued partner.
During the course of the conference ETSA also had the opportunity to network and engage with a variety of stakeholders in the textile service industry and identify areas for potential future cooperation. One such example is when ETSA met with representatives of the Polish textile supplier, Radomskie Tekstylia Przemysłowe (pictured). These two representatives outlined to ETSA the potential in the Polish textile market, as well as gave an in-depth perspective on how the Polish textile services industry is dealing with the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.
ETSA Secretariat would like to give a heart "Thank you" to Daniel Kärrholt and the Swedish Textile Service Association for organizing this event, as well as all the stakeholders ETSA had the opportunity to engage with.
