ETSA has an ambitious 2022
ETSA Secretariat is hopeful that all its members had a relaxing Christmas holiday and we wish them all the best for the coming new year. ETSA, which has been under the leadership of Secretary-General Elena Lai since late 2020, experienced a revival and renewal in the year 2021. At ETSA we hope to capitalize on this and continue this momentum into 2022, with an ambitious agenda set for this year.
In this year of 2022, ETSA will answer the EU's microplastic consultation, continue its work on EU Taxonomy and answer incoming relevant EU consultations as they are made public. Moreover, we anxiously await the release of the EU's Textile Strategy which is scheduled for early this year. We will continue to analyze and interpret incoming EU legislation and communicate it to our members, through our multimedia channels, our newsletters, and our social media. Please follow those in order to receive the most up to date information.
We also plan to continue to build off of a new spirit of cooperation with our members in the coming year. In the last year, ETSA worked closely with its Standards Working Group, its Environment and Laundry Technology Working Group as well as its Communications Working Group. In addition to creating another working group, ETSA will continue it deepened working relationship with these working groups, and assuming the COVID-19 situation permits, will seek more in-person interactions this year, which will culminate in the ETSA Congress in Rome which will take place in May and will be the first in-person ETSA Congress since Dublin in 2019.
In 2022, there will be an increase in the Communication revamp which took place in 2021, ETSA will work closely with the Communication Working Group, chaired by Marco Marcone at Bardusch, in developing an ETSA video and ETSA manifesto. Furthermore, ETSA will continue to assert its position as an EU Commission Climate Ambassador, these responsibilities include not only disseminating information on sustainability and green innovation but include tasks like hosting Peer Parliaments and other events designed to help reach the binding goals of the EU Climate Pact. ETSA will also continue in hosting webinars and online events, including on gender and equality which is in line with not only the priorities of ETSA Secretariat but EU political bodies more broadly. Lastly, with 2022 being declared the "European Year for Youth" by the Commission we'd like to expand on our work there and build off of what we accomplished with the EU funded project "Educate!' This and so much more will be on ETSA's plate for this year.
ETSA is proud of the work done in 2021, but is excited for what is to come in 2022, we are thrilled to have you as members, and do not hesitate to get in touch with ETSA Secretariat if you have any questions or concerns about anything going forward.
