EU legislation on product safety causes concern

Newly-proposed EU Regulation COM (2013) 78/3 published in February this year continues to cause concern. It aims to update EU rules on consumer product safety and market surveillance. It is likely to lead to additional information to be requested from manufacturers, including textile service companies.

The text includes relatively general terminology, which would require technical standards to provide further details and a means of ensuring presumption of conformity. ETSA is following closely in cooperation with Euratex. Legal text
